PERSONAL

Born May 26, 1950, in Boston, MA; brother of Nancy Dowd (a screenwriter). Education: Bowdoin College, B.A., 1972; McGill University, M.A., 1973.

Career: Producer and actor. Caravan Pictures, head of production, 1994–97; also works as assistant director, line producer, unit production manager, technical advisor, and production consultant. Worked as professional hockey player, including member of Johnstown Jets, 1974–75.

Member: Directors Guild of America.

Awards, Honors: Annual CableACE Award, National Cable Television Association, 1989, for Lip Service.
