Bal y Gay, Jesús
Bal y Gay, Jesús, Spanish musicologist and composer; b. Lugo, June 23, 1905; d. there, March 3, 1993. He studied in Madrid. He left his homeland in the wake of the Spanish Civil War, and later was on the staff of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City (1949–65). He publ. essays on Spanish music and composed some symphonic and chamber music.
