Lipsius, Marie (1837–1927)

German writer. Name variations: (pseudonym) La Mara. Born in Leipzig, Germany, on December 30, 1837; died near Wurzen, Saxony, on March 2, 1927; sister of Richard Adelbert Lipsius (1830–1892, a German Protestant cleric and co-founder of the Evangelical Union) and Justus Hermann Lipsius (1834–1920, a classical scholar).

Marie Lipsius, who published under the pseudonym La Mara, was a noted writer on Liszt and Beethoven, and edited letters of Liszt, Berlioz, and others.
