Lusitanian floral element A geographical element of the British flora, including plants such as Erica mackaiana (Mackay's heath) which are found in western Ireland and reappear again only far to the south, in the Iberian peninsula. These plants are generally thought to have migrated north to Ireland early in the post-glacial period, before sea level was fully restored.
