Takbīr
Takbīr (Arab., the verbal noun from the reflexive verb kabbara, ‘to magnify’, ‘to confess the greatness of’). A technical term, denoting the saying, by the Muslim, of Allāhu akbar, ‘greater is God’, in the prayer ritual, in the ādhān, or call to prayer, and in personal devotion.
