GENERAL EXECUTION

A court order commanding a public official, such as a sheriff, to take thepersonal propertyof a defendant to satisfy the amount of a judgment awarded against such defendant.

When such officer is given the authority to seize only particular property or types of property, the writ or order is sometimes known as a special execution.
