Description:

State-supported, 2-year, coed. Part of Wyoming Community College Commission. Awards certificates, transfer associate, and terminal associate degrees. Founded 1968. Setting: 270-acre small town campus. Endowment: $5.8 million. Total enrollment: 4,522. Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 18:1. 2,493 applied, 100% were admitted. Full-time: 1,708 students, 59% women, 41% men. Part-time: 2,814 students, 60% women, 40% men. Students come from 40 states and territories, 14 other countries, 7% from out-of-state, 1% Native American, 7% Hispanic, 3% black, 1% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 0.3% international, 45% 25 or older, 2% live on campus, 4% transferred in. Costs Per Year:

Application fee: $20. State resident tuition: $1368 full-time, $57 per credit hour part-time. Nonresident tuition: $4128 full-time, $172 per credit hour part-time. Mandatory fees: $588 full-time, $24.50 per credit hour part-time. Part-time tuition and fees vary according to course load. College room and board: $4640.

Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 35 open to all. Most popular organizations: Block and Bridle Club, Phi Theta Kappa, music, Student Nurses Association, STAR Club. Major annual events: Orientation, Fall All-Campus Barbeque, Homecoming Week. Student services: personal-psychological counseling. Campus security: 24-hour patrols, controlled dormitory access. 84 college housing spaces available; all were occupied in 2003-04. No special consideration for freshman housing applicants. Option: coed housing available. Laramie County Community College Library with 51,872 books, 187,739 microform titles, 323 serials, 31,514 audiovisual materials, an OPAC, and a Web page. Community Environment:

Founded in 1867, Cheyenne is the capital of Wyoming. It is located on a rolling plain at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and has a population of 52,000. The town keeps the spirit of the "Wild West" with its well-known annual Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration held in July. The State Capitol, State Museum, and Cheyenne Art Center are features of the city.
