Laquai, Reinhold

Laquai, Reinhold, Swiss composer and teacher; b. Zürich, May 1, 1894; d. Oberrieden, Oct. 3, 1957. He studied at the Zürich Cons., and later with Busoni in Berlin. In 1920 he became a teacher at the Zürich Cons. Among his compositions were 2 operas Der Schleier der Tanit and Die Revisionsreise, many orch. works, including 3 syms., 5 overtures, 2 serenades, a concert piece for Piano and Orch., etc., chamber music, including trios, sonatas for violin, flute, cello, bassoon, horn, clarinet, etc., Piano Quintet, piano pieces, and more than 200 songs.
