ASBC Foundation Graduate Scholarships (Doctorate, Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support to students who are pursuing MS or Ph.D. degrees in brewing science or related areas. Focus: Chemistry and Science. Qualif.: Candidates must be a current ASBC student member. Candidates must be enrolled in graduate studies by the time the graduate scholarship becomes effective, or be a current graduate student pursuing a course of study leading to an MS or a Ph.D. degree. For full-time graduate study, candidates must be enrolled in an academic schedule that meets the minimum requirements of the university involved. Educational institution in which the recipient is enrolled must be conducting fundamental investigations for the advancement of brewing and malting science. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $2,500. Scholarship winners will also receive

a certificate presented at a local section meeting. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form; copies of transcripts; a letter of application describing career plans; and three letters of recommendation. At least two of which are from deans, department heads and/or professors who have supervised the applicant's most recent academic work. These letters should present essential facts regarding scholastic record, capacity for work, extracurricular activities, career potential, ability to cooperate, character and personality and interest and capability in research. ASBC Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial support to a student who is a daughter or son of an active ASBC member. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Candidates must be the daughter or son of an active ASBC member. Candidates must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at a college or university and be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree. For full-time undergraduate students, candidates must be enrolled in an academic schedule that meets the minimum requirements of the attending college or university. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form; copies of transcripts; a letter of application describing career plans; and three letters of recommendation with at least two from the academic adviser and/or faculty members familiar with the applicant's academic record. The confidential letter(s) should include a general appraisal of the scholarship, extracurricular activities and abilities in particular relation to the purposes and eligibility requirements of the scholarships.
