Alaska Airlines Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage people to go into the travel and tourism business as their profession. Focus: Travel and Tourism. Qualif.: Applicants must be travel/tourism students in either a four-year college/university or propriety travel school; must have at least 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale; must have relevant training in basic statistics or other social research method courses; must have at least basic computer skills; and must be residents, citizens, or legal aliens of the United States or Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit proof of enrollment/acceptance at a travel school, community/junior college, college or university; an official school-printed description or listing of the curriculum where they are enrolled; proof of enrollments in travel and tourism courses, or letter from business colleague that can attest to the applicant's desire to pursue a career in the travel and tourism industry; four identical collated copies of applications and required materials (one original and three photocopies); and a 500-word paper on why the applicant is pursuing a career in the travel and tourism industry, which

must include at least two career goals.

American Express Travel Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage the pursuit of education and the growth and development of tomorrow's travel/tourism work force. Focus: Travel and Tourism. Qualif.: Applicants must be travel/tourism students in either a two or four-year college/university or propriety travel school; must have at least 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; must have relevant training in basic statistics or other social research method courses; must have at least basic computer skills; and must be residents, citizens, or legal aliens of the United States or Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.

To Apply: Applicants must submit a proof of enrollment/acceptance at a travel school, community/junior college, college or university; an official school-printed description or listing of the curriculum where they enrolled; proof of enrollments in travel and tourism courses, or letter from business colleague that can attest to the applicant's desire to pursue a career in the travel and tourism industry; four identical collated copies of applications and required materials (one original and three photocopies); and a 500-word statement detailing the student's plans in travel and tourism as well as the student's view of the travel industry's future.

American Society of Travel Agents AVIS Scholarships (Graduate, Professional Development, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To help future travel professionals meet the need for broader business management skills, beyond those dealing solely with travel and tourism issues. Focus: Travel and Tourism. Qualif.: Applicants must have a minimum of two years of full-time travel industry experience or an undergraduate degree in travel/tourism; may be currently employed in the travel industry; or may be currently enrolled in a minimum of two courses per semester in an accredited undergraduate or graduate level degree program in business or equivalent degree program. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on merit.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must provide a proof of current employment in the travel industry; transcript from last academic term with proof of a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or if the applicant is returning to school after time spent in the workforce, applicant must submit transcript showing a GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale; and a brief essay (500-750 words) explaining how the degree program relates to applicant's future career in the travel industry.

Arizona Chapter Gold Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage serious academic study in the field of travel and tourism. Focus: Travel and Tourism. Qualif.: Applicants must be travel/tourism students in either a two or four-year college/university or propriety travel school; must have at least 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale; must have relevant training in basic statistics or other social research method courses; must have at least basic computer skills; and must be residents, citizens, or legal aliens of the United States or Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.

Funds Avail.: $3,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a proof of enrollment/acceptance at a travel school, community/junior college, college or university; an official

school-printed description or listing of the curriculum where they are enrolled; proof of enrollments in travel and tourism courses, or letter from business colleague that can attest to the applicant's desire to pursue a career in the travel and tourism industry; four identical collated copies of applications and required materials (one original and three photocopies); and a 500-word statement detailing the student's plans in travel and tourism as well as the student's view of the travel industry's future.

David J. Hallissey Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage academic research in the tourism field. Focus: Travel and Tourism. Qualif.: Applicants must be travel/tourism students from Washington, DC metro area colleges/universities in undergraduate or graduate travel or tourism programs; must have at least 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; must have relevant training in basic statistics or other social research method courses; must have at least basic computer skills; and must be residents, citizens, or legal aliens of the United States or Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit a proof of enrollment/acceptance at a travel school, community/junior college, college or university; an official school-printed description or listing of the curriculum where he/she is enrolled; proof of enrollments in travel and tourism courses, or letter from a business colleague that can attest to the applicant's desire to pursue a career in the travel and tourism industry. Complete application must consist of four identical collated copies of applications and required materials (one original and three photocopies).

Healy Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage serious academic study in the field of travel and tourism. Focus: Travel and Tourism. Qualif.: Applicants must be travel/tourism students in either a four-year college/university or propriety travel school; must have at least 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale; must have relevant training in basic statistics or other social research method courses; must have at least basic computer skills; and must be residents, citizens, or legal aliens of the United States or Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.

Qualif.: Applicant must be a resident, a citizen, or a legal alien of the United States or Canada and have an, at least, 2.5 grade point of average on a 4.0 scale. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.

To Apply: Applicant must submit a proof of enrollment/acceptance at a travel school, community/junior college, or university; an official school-printed description or listing of the curriculum where he/she is enrolled; a proof of enrollment in travel and tourism courses; and a letter of recommendation from a professor, employer, or business colleague that can attest to the applicant's desire to pursue a career in the travel and tourism industry.

Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage people to go into the travel and tourism business as their profession. Focus: Travel and Tourism. Qualif.: Applicants must be travel/tourism students in either a four-year college/university or propriety travel school; must have at least 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale; must have relevant training in basic statistics or other social research method courses; must have at least basic computer skills; and must be residents, citizens, or legal aliens of the United States or Canada. Qualif.: Applicants must be travel/tourism students in either a two or four-year college/university or propriety travel school; must have at least 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale; must have a relevant training in basic statistics or other social research method courses; must have at least basic computer skills; and must be residents, citizens, or legal aliens of the United States or Canada. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic standing.

To Apply: Applicants must submit proof of enrollment/acceptance at a travel school, community/junior college, college or university; an official school-printed description or listing of the curriculum where they are enrolled; proof of enrollments in travel and tourism courses, or letter from business colleague that can attest to the applicant's desire to pursue a career in the travel and tourism industry; four identical collated copies of applications and required materials (one original and three photocopies); and a 500-word paper explaining why applicant needs the scholarship.

Nancy Stewart Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To fund research projects in the travel and tourism field. Focus: Travel and Tourism. Qualif.: Applicants must have a minimum of three years of full-time travel industry experience; must be pursuing one of the Travel Institute's four certification program: CTC accreditation, Destination Specialist, Travel Career Development, Professional Management. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the academic standing.

Funds Avail.: $400. Number Awarded: 4. To Apply: Applicants must provide a proof of current employment in the travel industry; transcript from last academic term with proof of a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or if the applicant is returning to school after time spent in the workforce, submit a cover letter explaining why applicant is returning to school; a letter of intent to enroll in a Travel Institute course within one year and explaining what benefits they hope to obtain from the Travel Institute program or an application to the ASTA educational program; a letter of recommendation from the official ASTA employer to confirm the employment status; and an original headshot picture.
