Jarecki, Henryk
Jarecki, Henryk, Polish conductor and composer, father of Tadeusz Jarecki; b. Warsaw, Dec. 6, 1846; d. Lwow, Dec. 18, 1918. He studied composition with Moniuszko at the Warsaw Music Inst. After playing double bass in the orch. of the Wielki Theater there (1864–72), he served as conductor of the Polish Theater in Posen (1872–73). He then was deputy conductor (1873–74) and chief conductor and director (1874–1900) of the Lemberg Opera. He wrote nine operas, a Sym., masses, chamber music, and songs.
