Cahill, Teresa (Mary)

Cahill, Teresa (Mary), English soprano; b. Maidenhead, July 30, 1944. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 1967 she made her operatic debut as Rosina with the Phoenix Opera Co. in London; from 1970 she appeared at the Glyndebourne Festivals and at Covent Garden in London; also sang with the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff and Scottish National Opera in Glasgow. In 1972 she appeared for the first time at the Santa Fe Opera, in 1976 at Milan’s La Scala, and in 1981 with the Philadelphia Opera. She also pursued an active career as a concert singer. Her operatic repertoire includes roles in operas by Mozart, Verdi, and R. Strauss.
