Bach, Heinrich
Bach, Heinrich, third son of Johann(es Hans) “der Spielmann”; b. Wechmar, Sept. 16, 1615; d. Arnstadt, July 10, 1692. He was a town musician in Schweinfurt from 1629, in Erfurt from 1635, and in Arnstadt from 1641. From 1641 he was also organist at the Liebfrauenkirche in Arnstadt, a post he held for 51 years, until his death. M. Schneider publ. a thematic index of his works in the Bach-Jahrbuch (1907, pp. 105–9). A cantata of his is found in Das Erbe deutscher Musik (vol. II, Leipzig, 1935); also three organ chorales in D. Hellmann, ed., Orgel-werke der Familie Bach (Leipzig, 1967).
