Saint. Martyred in Alesia around 251 when tormenters cut her throat.
Baptized a Christian by her wet nurse and subsequently disowned by parents for her conversion, refused to marry Olybrius, prefect of Gaul, or deny her faith; imprisoned, was whipped and burned with heated iron plates and pincers but still held firm to her faith and her vow of virginity. Feast day is Sept 7.
