Ukrainian track-and-field athlete. Name variations: Faina Myelnik. Born June 1945 in the Ukraine.
Won a gold medal for discus at Munich Olympics (1972) with a throw of 66.62 meters; was almost unbeatable (1971–75), setting the record 11 times, from 64.22 meters to 70.50 meters; 1st passed the 70-meter mark (August 20, 1975), in Zurich; won European championships (1971, 1974); finished 4th at Montreal Olympics (1976).
