Named Miss California (1940, 1941); named 1st runner-up to Miss America (1940), then Miss America (1941); highly popular during WWII, sold war bonds and traveled with USO; signed with RKO and appeared in 84 films; had her own radio show; with husband Harry Koplan, hosted tv's "Meet the Misses" and was a regular on "The Lawrence Welk Show."
