Brackett, Anna Callender (1836–1911)
American educator. Born May 21, 1836, in Boston, Massachusetts; died Mar 18, 1911, in Summit, New Jersey; graduate of State Normal School, Framingham, Massachusetts, 1856.
After working as a teacher and assistant principal in several schools, served as principal of the St. Louis Normal School in Missouri (1863–72); founded a private girls' school based on progressive educational methods; was editor of a symposium published as The Education of American Girls (1874); also edited Women and the Higher Education.
