Roger Sperry

1913-1994

American neurologist renowned for his research on the brain. Sperry and his colleagues, David Hubel and Torsten Wiesel, were awarded the 1981 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their pioneering work in determining how information and functions are organized within the brain. Their research has contributed toward a better understanding of how the brain works, leading to advances in the treatment of brain injury, brain disease, and similar ailments.
