Roger Cecil Burgus
1934-
American biochemist who with Nobel laureate Roger Guillemin isolated a hypothalamic hormone known as thyrotropin hormone releasing factor. This molecule regulates the function of the thyroid gland through its effect on the pituitary gland in the human brain. He received his undergraduate, master's, (1960) and Ph.D. (1962) degrees from Iowa State University. He has taught and conducted research at Iowa State University, Baylor University, Salk Institute, and Oral Roberts School of Medicine.
