2. The name of the corresponding European stage, named after the Ypres Clay, Belgium. It is roughly contemporaneous with the Penutian and lower Ulatizian (N. America), upper Waipawan, Mangaorapan and lower Heretaungan (New Zealand), and the lower Johannian (Australia).
