Stigeoclonium
Stigeoclonium (division Chlorophyta) A genus of filamentous green algae in which the filaments are branched, and the chloroplast forms a band around the middle of the cell (as in Ulothrix). They are common in still or running water. They are tolerant of organic pollution and are sometimes used as an indicator of heavily polluted water.
