peralkaline
peralkaline A chemical classification applied to felsic igneous rocks in which there are more molecules of (Na2O + K2O) than of Al2O3. Rocks with such a chemistry crystallize alkali-rich ferromagnesian minerals such as aegirine, aegirine-augite, barkevikite, and arfvedsonite. See also METALUMINOUS.
