Ancalomicrobium A genus of Gram-negative bacteria not assigned to any taxonomic family. The cells are variable in shape, according to conditions, but typically have 2–8 stalk-like extensions. Reproduction is by budding from one site on the cell body (not from stalks). These bacteria can grow under aerobic or anaerobic conditions, and are chemo-organotrophs. They are found in aquatic environments.
