WISTRICH, ROBERT S.
WISTRICH, ROBERT S. (1945– ), British-Israeli historian and writer on antisemitism. One of the best-known contemporary historians of antisemitism and related topics, Robert Wistrich was born in the Soviet Union but lived in England. He was educated at Cambridge and London Universities. Wistrich held chairs at London University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. From 2002 he was director of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism in Israel. His many books include Revolutionary Jews From Marx to Trotsky (1976), Socialism and the Jews (1982), and Antisemitism: The Longest Hatred (1991), which was made into a successful television series.
