FAIR LAWN, SOUTH CAROLINA. 29 August 1782. The Fair Lawn Plantation was Francis Marion's last engagement of the war. He surprised two hundred men from the South Carolina Royal Dragoons and Black Dragoons commanded by Major Thomas Fraser. After initial success, Marion was forced to retreat by Fraser's stiff defense.
