Mathey, Jean-Baptiste
Mathey, Jean-Baptiste (c.1630–95). Born in Dijon, France, Mathey worked in Prague (1675–94), and designed the Troja Palace there (1679–96), with its central block and perron, and two wings linking the main building to symmetrically disposed pavilions: it combines French ideas about the planning of châteaux with Italian detailing. He designed the Kreuzherrenkirche (Church of the Crusader Knights—1679–88) and the Toskana Palace (1689–90), both in Prague. His church architecture influenced Fischer von Erlach.
