GPS AT THE WINTER OLYMPICS

In order to protect people from potential terrorist acts at the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2002, the U.S. Secret Service and FBI assembled some of the latest high-tech devices. Among them were facial recognition systems, night and thermal vision devices, and biological and chemical weapons sensors. In addition, security measures called for the whereabouts of athletes to be monitored by global positioning satellites.
