Page, Christopher (Howard)

Page, Christopher (Howard), English choral conductor and scholar; b. London, April 8,1952. He was educated at the Univ. of Oxford (B.A.) and the Univ. of York (Ph.D.). As an academician, he served as a lecturer in Medieval English at the Univ. of Cambridge. He became widely known, however, via his role as founder and conductor of the esteemed musical vocal ensemble Gothic Voices. In addition to many concerts, he conducted his ensemble in many broadcasts and recordings. Page’s performances of music of the Middle Ages are notable for their informed and high standard of performance practice. In addition to his articles in learned journals, he publ. the tome Music and Instruments of the Middle Ages (London, 1997).
