Herseth, Adolph
Herseth, Adolph, outstanding American trumpeter; b. Lake Park, Minn., July 25, 1921. He studied with Marcel LaFosse and Georges Mager at the New England Cons, of Music in Boston (1946–48). In 1948 he was appointed 1st trumpeter of the Chicago Sym. Orch., a position he held with distinction for more than 45 years. He also made many appearances as a soloist, as in the premiere of Husa’s Trumpet Concerto (Chicago, Feb. 11, 1988), and was active as a teacher.
