Coertse, Mimi, South African soprano; b. Durban, June 12, 1932. She studied in Johannesburg and Vienna. She made her debut with the Vienna State Opera on tour in Naples in 1955; then sang in Basel and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. In 1957 she became a member of the Vienna State Opera; she also appeared in London, Cologne, Rome, Brussels, and other major European music centers.
