The Mummy 1959
The Mummy ★★★ 1959
A group of British archaeologists discover they have made a grave mistake when a mummy kills off those who have violated his princess' tomb. A summation of all the previous “mummy” films, this one has a more frightening mummy (6'4″ Lee) who is on screen much of the time. Additionally, there is pathos in this monster, not merely murder and revenge. An effective remake of the 1932 classic. 88m/C VHS, DVD . GB Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Felix Aylmer, Yvonne Furneaux, Eddie Byrne, Raymond Huntley, George Pastell, Michael Ripper, John Stuart; D: Terence Fisher; W: Jimmy Sangster; C: Jack Asher.
