Fatal Instinct ★★ 1993 (PG-13)

Spoof on erotic thrillers such as “Fatal Attraction” and “Basic Instinct.” Suave Assante plays a guy with dual careers—he's both cop and attorney, defending the criminals he's arrested. Young plays a lovelorn psycho who's lost her panties. Plot is worth mentioning only in passing, since the point is to mercilessly skewer the entire film noir tradition. The gags occasionally hit deepchuckle level, though for every good joke there's at least three that misfire. Clemons of “E Street Band” fame wanders around with sax for background music purposes, typical of the acute selfconsciousness of the film. 90m/C VHS, DVD . Armand Assante, Sean Young, Sherilyn Fenn, Kate Nelligan, Christopher McDonald, James Remar, Tony Randall; Cameos: Clarence Clemons, Doc Severinsen; D: Carl Reiner; W: David O'Malley; M: Richard Gibbs.
