English actress. Name variations: Mrs. Pritchard. Born Hannah Vaughan in 1711; died in 1768.

A member of David Garrick's company for 20 years, Hannah Pritchard was considered the best Lady Macbeth (Gruoch ) until Sarah Siddons . Pritchard was a renowned actress, eminent in both comedy and tragedy, and she excelled in playing characters of intrigue, including Lady Betty Modish and Lady Townly in The Provoked Husband. She was also seen as Gertrude in Hamlet, Cleopatra in Dryden's All for Love, and Zara in The Mourning Bride. Pritchard's first appearance was at the Haymarket on September 26, 1733; her last was at the Drury Lane on April 24, 1768.
