Medici, Maddalena de (1600–1633)
Tuscan noblewoman and nun . Born in 1600; died in 1633; daughter of Christine of Lorraine (c. 1571–1637) and Ferdinand I de Medici (1549–1609), grand duke of Tuscany (r. 1587–1609); twin sister of Lorenzo de Medici (d. 1648).
At age 20, a few months after her brother Cosimo II's death in 1620, Maddalena de Medici became a nun at the convent of the Crocetta; she died there in 1633, age 33. Her twin brother Lorenzo lived to be 48.
