Queen of France and countess of Meaux. Name variations: Eadgifu; Edgiva or Edgive; Ogive or Odgive d'Angleterre. Born in 902 (some sources cite 896); died in 951; daughter of Edward I the Elder (c. 870–924), king of the English (r. 899–924), and Elflaed (d. 920); married Charles III the Simple (879–929), king of France (r. 898–923), in 917; married Herbert of Vermandois, count of Meaux; children: (first marriage) Louis IV (918–954), king of France (r. 936–954).
