Te Pikinga (c. 1800–after 1868)

Maori tribal leader. Born c. 1800, south of Wanganui, New Zealand; died after 1868; m. Te Rangihaeata.

Captured during a tribal battle, was wed to the chief of the opposing tribe, thereby securing freedom for her people and the preservation of their lands through her marriage alliance.
