Puerto Rican gymnast. Born Nov 2, 1979, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; dau. of Eileen and Manuel Diaz; sister of Gretchen Diaz (gymnast at University of Arizona); attended University of Georgia, 1999–2002.
At Atlanta, was the 1st female gymnast to represent Puerto Rico at the Olympics and the youngest Puerto Rican Olympian in history (1996); placed 1st all-around at the Puerto Rican nationals (1997), 2nd for vault at the Pan American Games (1997), and 1st for uneven bars at Central American Games (1998).
