Adelaide of Montserrat (fl. 1100)

Regent of Normandy. Mother of Count Roger II of Normandy.

One of many medieval noblewomen who, though not in theory allowed to rule, actually governed large domains in practice; when son Roger left Normandy to participate in the 1st Crusade (c. 1096), was named to act as his regent during his years of absence.
