Queen of France. Name variations: Adelaide of Guyenne; Adelaide of Aquitaine. Born around 950 (some sources cite 945); died around 1004; daughter of Guillaume also known as William I (or III) Towhead, count of Poitou, duke of Aquitaine, and Adele of Normandy (c. 917–c. 962); married Hugh Capet, duke of France (r. 956–996), king of France (r. 987–996), first of the Capetian kings, in 970; children: Robert II (b. 972), king of France (r. 996–1031).
