Shih Tsung

fl. 900s

Chinese emperor who commissioned a cast-iron sculpture in 954 to commemorate his victory over the Tartars. The work, which weighs about 40 tons (60,963 kg), was cast from a massive piece of cast iron and became known as the Great Lion of Tsang-chou.
