Abraham Jacobi
Abraham Jacobi
1830-1919
German-American physician who was a founder of pediatrics as a field of medical specialization in the United States. In 1860 he was appointed to the chair of diseases of children at New York Medical College. Jacobi founded the first pediatric clinic in New York in 1862 and wrote extensively on the diseases of infancy and childhood. He was one of the first American physicians to use the diphtheria antitoxin.
