Meliaceae A family of trees and treelets, most of which have spirally pinnate leaves. The flowers are bisexual or unisexual, and regular, with the sepals and petals united at the base, the stamens usually forming a tube, and the ovary superior, with 2–6 locules. Meliaceae produce a variety of fruits. Many are valuable timber trees. There are 51 genera, with about 575 species, occurring in the tropics and subtropics of both hemispheres.
