Cyrtophorina (subclass Holotrichia, order Gymnostomatida) A suborder of ciliate protozoa in which the cytostome is located on the ventral side of the body. The organisms feed on diatoms, algae, and bacteria, which are ingested through the non-expansible cytostome.
