Cynometra (family Leguminosae, subfamily Caesalpinoideae) A genus of trees with pinnate leaves and small flowers which are borne in racemes and are sometimes cauliflorous. The pod is indehiscent, with 1 seed. They yield useful timber. There are 70 species, with a pantropical distribution, occurring in lowland rain forests.
