blackcurrant Fruit of the bush Ribes nigra, of special interest because of its high vitamin C content (150–230 mg/100g). The British National Fruit Collection has 120 varieties. A 100‐g portion is a rich source of vitamin C; a source of iron and copper; provides 9 g of dietary fibre; supplies 35 kcal (145 kJ).
