Daiun Sōgaku Harada

Daiun Sōgaku Harada (1870–1961). Japanese Zen master. He entered a Sōtō monastery at the age of 7, but also trained in a Rinzai monastery, Shōgen-ji. He became abbot of Hosshin-ji. His teaching was continued by his dharma successor, Hakuun Ryōko Yasutani, whose ‘Introductory Lectures’ appear in P. Kapleau, The Three Pillars of Zen (1980).
