Taal, Lake
Lake Taal (tä–äl´), 94 sq mi (243 sq km), SW Luzon, the Philippines, S of Manila. One of the most picturesque places in the country, it contains Volcano Island, with Mt. Taal, an active volcano, rising to 984 ft (300 m). Its eruption in 1911 caused much destruction. Later major eruptions occurred in 1968 and 1970.
