Baylis, Lilian
Baylis, Lilian (b London, 1874; d London, 1937). Eng. theatre manager and impresario. From 1898 until her death was man. of the Old Vic, of which her aunt, Emma Cons, was lessee. Staged Shakespeare there, also opera and ballet (with Ninette de Valois). In 1931 re-opened SW Th., to which she transferred the opera and ballet cos. CH 1929.
