UMRA
Arab word designating the "lesser pilgrimage" made by Muslims to Mecca. Umra can occur at anytime of the year except during the period of the "great pilgrimage" (hajj). During Umra, the pilgrim is exempted from certain obligations, but is not excused from making the "great pilgrimage."
