Education: University of Illinois at Chicago Circle (now known as University of Illinois at Chicago), B.A., 1970; Yale University, M.F.A., 1973. Painter in New Mexico, beginning 1990; Santa Fe Southern Railway (branch of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway), part owner; Chicago & North Western Railway, worked in engine service. ALS Association, spokesperson. Some sources state that Gross played the guitar in a musical group, the Travelin' Four.
